Jeremy Burge is the founder and editor of Emojipedia: the world’s leading emoji resource.

Originally from Australia, Jeremy now splits his time between the East End of London at Google Campus, Melbourne Australia, and Silicon Valley in the United States. Having started Emojipedia as a side project in 2013, this quickly grew to serve millions of users around the globe.

World Emoji Day is a day of “global celebration” created by Jeremy in July 2014. Started as a way to celebrate the increasing role emojis play in our lives, World Emoji Day has gone on to be featured by companies such as Google, Twitter, Facebook and Reddit, and has been the number one trending topic each July 17.

In 2015, Jeremy joined the Unicode Emoji Subcommittee, which is responsible for the emoji vetting and approval process that sees up to 100 new emojis released each year. Part of the emoji approval process involves quarterly meetings which rotate locations between offices of Unicode members such as Adobe, Apple, IBM, and Microsoft.
